‘Sumit 38’ fallen remembered with re-dedication ceremony
Air Force Reserve Col. Jay Pittman (left), 302nd Airlift Wing commander, together with Lt. Col. (ret.) Robert Stout, unveils to the public the ‘Sumit 38’ memorial during a re-dedication ceremony Aug. 4, 2012, at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Pittman, together with Stout, ushered in the re-dedication of the memorial which honors the six AF Reservists who perished during the crash of a C-130 Hercules on May 13, 1995. The memorial was re-dedicated with family members of the fallen and 302nd Airlift Wing and 52nd Airlift Squadron members present. The memorial was moved from its previous location as part of the wing’s expansion under the Total Force Initiative framework. The Airmen who were killed when their aircraft crashed approximately 60 miles southeast of Mountain Home, Idaho, are: Lt. Col. Robert Buckhout; Capt. Geoffrey Boyd; 1st Lt.
