A memorial honoring to the crew of a C-130 Hercules, call sign "Sumit 38," was re-dedicated with family members of the fallen and 302nd Airlift Wing and 52nd Airlift Squadron Airmen present. The aircraft crashed while en route to Colorado on May 13, 1995, after having delivered personnel and equipment to support wildland firefighting efforts in Boise, Idaho. The Airmen who perished in the crash are: Lt. Col. Robert Buckhout; Capt. Geoffrey Boyd; 1st Lt. Lance Dougherty; Chief Master Sgt. Jimmie Vail; Master Sgt. Jay Kemp; and Staff Sgt. Michael Scheideman.

The memorial was moved from its previous location as part of the wing' s expansion project under the Total Force Initiative framework.
