‘Sumit 38’ fallen remembered with re-dedication ceremony
Family members and 302nd Airlift Wing Airmen listen as Air Force Reservist Senior Master Sgt. Dave Carey opens a re-dedication ceremony Aug. 4, 2012, at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. The ceremony re-dedicated a memorial to ‘Sumit 38,’ an Air Force Reserve C-130 Hercules that crashed in May 1995 with six AF Reservists on board. The memorial was moved from its previous location as part of the wing’s expansion under the Total Force Initiative framework. The Airmen who perished when their aircraft crashed approximately 60 miles southeast of Mountain Home, Idaho, are: Lt. Col. Robert Buckhout; Capt. Geoffrey Boyd; 1st Lt.
