More than 30 civilian employers of the 302nd Airlift Wing’s Reserve Citizen Airmen visited the wing to learn about its mission sets when their employees are called to service, here, Aug. 9.

Every year, the wing partners with a local chapter of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and hosts an Employer Appreciation Day as a show of thanks for the support employers give the reservists who work for them.

The day included a flight aboard one of the wing’s C-130 Hercules Aircraft during a training mission, training demonstrations by the 302nd Security Forces Squadron, a presentation by the ESGR representatives and mission briefings.

The ESGR is a program that seeks to promote cooperation and understanding between reservists and National Guardsmen and their civilian employers.

“It’s critically important the employers understand what our Airmen do when they come to work for us,” said Col. Gregory Berry, the 302nd Operations Group commander. “The support they give us is essential to our success and this is a day we set aside to thank them for that.”
