Stanton assumes command
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Col. Robert Stanton, right accepts the 302nd Operations Group guideon from Col. Jay Pittman. Stanton assumed command of the 302nd Operations Group during a ceremony here Feb. 19, 2015. He said he is coming into the position with three expectations: to give 100 percent, to use innovation in these challenging times, and the need to have fun, as Airmen are young, flying in the Air Force, and need to enjoy the moment. This will be Stanton’s second wing with a special mission. His last position was the Deputy Commander of the 403rd Operations Group, Keesler AFB, Miss. which has the “Hurricane Hunters” aerial weather reconnaissance mission. The 302nd Operations Group is home to the only Reserve wing with an aerial firefighting mission. Pittman, 302nd Airlift Wing Commander, was the presiding official of the ceremony.
