21SW LRS awards 302nd LRS drivers
Lt. Col. Joshua Marcus, commander, 21st Logistics Readiness Squadron, awards Senior Airman Melissa Kliesen the Air Force Achievement Medal Dec. 30, 2015, here. Kliesen was recognized for her support of the 21st LRS mission by augmenting emergency shuttle operations at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station from Aug. 16, 2015 to Dec. 23, 2015 during CMAFS' north entrance construction project resulting from a rockslide. Kliesen transported 2,235 passengers over 2,500 incident-free miles. "Cheyenne mountain's north entrance had to go under construction, this required drivers, required vans," said Marcus. "Previous to me coming here there was a fantastic idea of reaching out to the 302nd, something I'm all for doing in the future, reaching out to our total force Airmen. We were short on manpower and this is the perfect mission that you were capable of executing for us." Kliesen is a vehicle operations specialist assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command's 302nd LRS. The other 302nd LRS drivers receiving Air Force Achievement Medals for their surge support of CMAFS shuttle operations were Tech. Sgt. Erin Doty, material management specialist, Staff Sgt. Regina Whatley, traffic management specialist, and Senior Airmen Gladys Tallam, traffic management specialist and Dana Vandegrift, vehicle operations specialist.
