New Active Duty squadron activates with AF Reserve

Lt. Cols. Carlos and Annette Ortiz, with their two children, cut into a reception cake Oct. 3 after he assumed command of the 52nd Airlift Squadron at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Lt. Col. Carlos Ortiz took command of the 52nd AS during an activation and assumption of command ceremony held that day. The squadron is the Air Force's newest active association organization, that joins together Air Force Reserve and Active Duty Airmen to fly and maintain the same aircraft. Lt. Col.
