U.S. Air Force Capt. Adam Embry, a chaplain for the 302nd Airlift Wing, is Space Base Delta 1’s Outstanding Performer for July.

Embry’s job as a chaplain includes connecting with guardians at Schriever SFB and working with the Guardian Resilience Team to provide holistic care. A significant bulk of his ministry focuses on individual counseling.

Embry has been in the Air Force for five years, covering the 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson SFB as a reservist. He has also been on active orders at Schriever SFB for two years.

In June 2023, Embry won the 2022 AFRC Chaplain Individual Excellence Award for reservists.

“It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my teammates on the Guardian Holistic Operational Support Team at Schriever,” Embry said about the award.

Embry sets goals and aims high in everything he does.

“I like to challenge myself,” Embry said. “I always want to do more school and write more. I wanted to push up 260 on bench by the end of this year—but it’s not looking good!”

In his free time, Embry reads theology, “The Lord of the Rings,” serves at church, runs and spends time with his wife and six children.

“I genuinely love the people I get to serve and collaborating with teammates to provide care,” Embry said.

This year, Embry and his immediate family, his 72-year-old parents, and 95-year-old grandmother sold their respective homes and everyone moved into a larger residence together. That is four generations of family and military history living together, Embry’s grandmother, the widow of a WWII veteran, his father, a retired Lt. Col. with 29 years of service in the Army National Guard and himself.

Outside of his grandmother’s room are the Army training photos of Embry’s grandfather at Ft. Skill, Oklahoma.

“I get to see him and know the value of raising his hand to serve at age 17,” Embry said about the photos.

Embry also said that he finds encouragement from talking to his father and learning from his father’s military experience.
