The Hub Re-opens on Peterson AFB

The Peterson Hub re-opened its doors January 31, 2020 after a six month renovation process.  Beginning July 2019, contractors started demolition work and realized the initial 6-7 week project deadline needed to be expanded to account for unforeseen challenges; but the staff rolled with it, providing daily meals to customers as well as event catering services while operating out of a food trailer on the property grounds.

Chaney Ferguson, Community Flight Services chief, said, “The entire team was amazing in what they were able to accomplish, providing meal services for events with 200 plus people working from a make-shift kitchen with a third of their usual amenities is hard to do.”

According to Ferguson, the kitchen was the major catalyst for renovation. That, combined with an inefficient layout, made it difficult for the team to support food, beverage and event operations. The Air Force Services Center provided funding for the new equipment as part of an overall facilities modernization initiative where clubs are evolving into community event centers, which is why the facility also underwent a name change.

 “The transition from the Peterson Club to the Peterson Hub is an important one for unit cohesion on Peterson Air Force Base,” said Dorothy Choate, deputy director of the 21st Force Support Squadron. “Not only will this renovation increase the functionality of services that we provide, but it will also help continue the Air Force, and now the Space Force, culture of connection in a more inclusive space. Bottom line, it’s about our Airmen with a big ‘A’.”

The Peterson Hub still has the Colorado Pizza Bar and Grill full menu, and lunch services include a soup and salad bar as well as daily specials. Club programs and services including membership perks, like a percentage off room fees or a reduced meal price at various eateries, are available as well.
