Phase four of base roundabout construction begins soon Published July 20, 2009 By Compiled from staff reports PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Over the past few weeks, Tierra Vista Communities has been working to complete the west section of the roundabout, which encompasses Malmstrom Avenue and East Stewart Avenue, as well as a new entry to the temporary living facilities. The last major phase of roundabout construction, Phase Four, began July 8 and will have the most impact on traffic. Tierra Vista Communities will construct the east section of the roundabout, which encompasses both East Stewart and West Stewart avenues. All traffic heading to Peterson East will be detoured onto Suffolk Street, leading to Ent Avenue, Malmstrom Avenue, and to a temporary road that turns into East Stewart Avenue. To help ease the flow of traffic coming from Peterson East, a new portion of the roundabout will be opened. Traffic will be directed to drive through the roundabout to West Stewart Avenue. TVC anticipates this phase lasting approximately 45 days. This is the last major phase of the roundabout construction. During all phases of construction, Tierra Vista Communities will communicate all road closures and scheduled traffic interruptions through www.peterson.af.mil and the Space Observer newspaper, and on the TVC website, www.tierra-vista.com. Detour maps will also be on display at various locations on base including the BX/Commissary, fitness center, pharmacy and the 21st Space Wing headquarters building. The safety of our residents and Peterson personnel is our number one concern, and during this time of construction Tierra Vista asks everyone to be cautious while travelling in this area. Residents are encouraged to call the Tierra Vista Communities Housing Office at (719) 597-7200 if they have any questions or concerns.
