Getting connected to their wing and fellow Airmen is now only a click away for Reservists assigned to the 302nd Airlift Wing.

On March 31, the 302nd AW Public Affairs office launched a social networking page in an effort to provide additional outreach and increased communication to wing members, families, friends and followers. The Facebook page can be found here.

After logging into Facebook, simply type"302nd Airlift Wing (Air Force Reserve)" in the search box on the site.

"The goal of our Facebook page is to provide instant news and information on our wing to our fans, or those who chose to follow our page," said Ann Skarban, 302nd Airlift Wing Chief of Public Affairs. "The wing's new page will allow Public Affairs to push information to people versus waiting for members and followers to logon to the wing's public web page to gain information."

With the growing amount of success social networking sites like Facebook have achieved, several military organizations have embraced social networking. From the Department of Defense to Air Force Reserve Command and 22nd Air Force, including the many airlift and tanker wings assigned to it, a large number of social networking sites have been launched by these organizations during the last 12 months.

According to the Air Force Public Affairs Agency Emerging Technology Division's pamphlet entitled New Media and The Air Force, "Progress is being made toward helping Airmen engage each other across the social spectrum ... the Air Force is currently creating an official, and active presence in the larger world of social media."
