The Girl Scouts of Troop 3006, Castle Rock, Colo., chose the Air Force Reservists of the 731st Airlift Squadron as their "Hometown Heroes" this year. They were honored in part because of their recent deployment in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and New Dawn.

This meant that while selling their cookies as usual, the troop would also collect donations to buy cookies for members of the 731st. When sales were over and the donations were counted, the girls had collected enough for 120 boxes.

On April 3 they stopped by the 302nd Airlift Wing stationed at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., with their parents and siblings to tour a C-130H aircraft and to personally deliver their cookies and thank their hometown heroes. The girls look forward to continuing the program next year.

"It's really awesome," said Girl Scout Katelynn Griffin. "I like donating cookies every year."
