The rumble of motorcycles filled the air where normally the roar of C-130 engines can be heard as members of the Air Force Reserve Command's 302nd Airlift Wing motored their bikes onto the Peterson Air Force Base flight line for the first "Hercs and Hogs" photo event. On Oct. 1, after the Air Force Reservists' duty day, the wing's "Airmen bikers" gathered in front of a mighty 'Herc' for a photo opportunity that showcased their love of their bike and their love of the C-130. The event, sponsored by the 302nd AW Human Resources Development Council and the 302nd Maintenance Group aimed to build morale and comaraderie amongst the wing's motorcycle riders.

"Everybody is proud of the planes and what they do with the planes and they're equally as proud of their motorcycles," said Master Sgt. Charlie Huffman, a C-130 crew chief and one of the event's organizers. "It brings together their personal life and their work life," he added.

"It's turned out to be a good event for the first time, we're hoping this becomes an annual event," said Master Sgt. Victor Cowan, a C-130 crew chief and event organizer. "Next year we hope to expand a little more, and maybe sooner or later we can get the whole base out here," he added.

For those who couldn't make it, Master Sgt. Maria Ortega, 34th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron who just recently started riding again after a 12 year break, had this to say,"You missed out big time, its not very often you get a chance for a photo shoot in front of the planes we actually fly and deploy with, you missed out!"
