Ings takes the reins of 39th Aerial Port Squadron

In a change of command ceremony held on Sunday of the May Unit Training Assembly here, Maj. Deborah Ings, took command of the Air Force Reserve's 39th Aerial Port Squadron.

The major brings with her more than 26 years of military bearing and experience. Ings, began her military career in 1985 after she graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and earned her commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. The major continued her military training, graduating from the Undergraduate Pilot Training School, Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, in 1986. Since then she has logged more than 3,100 flight hours. Throughout her career she has held the positions of aircraft commander, pilot instructor and numerous leadership positions.
 
As commander of the 39th APS, Ings is now responsible for overseeing all aerial port taskings in support of the 302nd Airlift Wing, including cargo, ramp and passenger services, and airdrop cargo systems.
