302nd Airlift Wing Public Affairs team, winners in AFRC 2012 Media Contest

The 302nd Airlift Wing's public website, www.302aw.afrc.af.mil was recently recognized as the best in the Air Force Reserve Command and two members of the 302nd AW's public affairs team received individual awards in the command's 2012 Media Contest.

The annual Media Contest recognizes the journalistic, photographic, video, web and broadcast contributions made by Air Force Reserve public affairs offices and individuals. Airmen and civilian employees from 27 organizations throughout the command submitted 290 web, print, graphic, photographic and broadcast entries to the contest.

The 302nd AW's public website received recognition for solid content, variety of stories, and a comprehensive media center. In 2012, the 302nd AW's public affairs team posted more than 200 news items to the wing's public website.

Winning individual awards for the 302nd AW were Tech Sgt. Stephen Collier, public affairs craftsman and Ms. Ann Skarban, chief of public affairs. Collier received first place awards in the human interest feature article category for his story, "The other side of the fire: Reservist loses home," and in the illustrative photo category for his employer day photo of Jennifer Bunke. He received second place recognition in the graphic layout and design category for his treatment of the 302nd AW's Task Force Normandy 68 mission. Skarban received third place in the news photograph cagtegory for her deployment homecoming photo of Shannon Sloger and her son Brennan. The 302nd Airlift Wing's website and Tech. Sgt. Collier's illustrative photo will represent the Air Force Reserve Command in the U.S. Air Force 2012 Media Contest.
