Col. Jason “Jay” Martin assumed command of the 302nd Maintenance Group during a ceremony at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, Feb. 11, 2018.

Martin officially assumed command of 302nd MXG on Jan. 8, 2018.

Presiding over the ceremony, Col. James DeVere, 302nd Airlift Wing commander, began his welcome by recognizing and thanking Martin’s family for their support. Also, he recognized Martin’s career as an Air Force maintenance officer from commissioning at the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1997, through 13 assignments to arriving here.

“As you can see great experience, all in the maintenance career field; commander four times, operations officer twice, and executive officer twice,” said DeVere. “Great experience and leadership that we are bringing to the 302nd (AW). We are so excited to have you (Martin) here.”

Martin is charged with the responsibility of leading two squadrons, the 302nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and the 302nd Maintenance Squadron. Together the group maintains mission readiness for eight C-130 H3 Hercules aircraft assigned to the 302nd AW.

“I am super excited to be here,” said Martin. “To the men and women of the 302nd MXG, I look forward to becoming part of this family and moving things forward. I think we are all supposed to leave a place better than we found it and I know a number of people, as I have gotten to know you, feel the same way. Working together we are going to do some great things in this wing.”

Martin arrived from Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, where he served as Deputy Chief of Requirements.

The 302nd MXG supports the various missions of the 302nd AW including tactical airlift and airdrop, Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System and Aeromedical Evacuation missions.
