302nd Airlift Wing Photos

Remembering SUMIT 38

Tech. Sgt. Ryan Goode and Master Sgt. Shane Sturgeon, both 302nd Maintenance Squadron aircraft maintenance technicians secure a newly refurbished model C-130 Hercules to the display stand of the SUMIT 38 memorial outside Building 890 at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., May 22, 2017. The display, which was destroyed by hail in July 2016, memorializes the loss of six Reserve Citizen Airmen assigned to the 302nd Airlift Wing who perished as a result of a C-130 crash that occurred May 13, 1995, near Boise, Idaho. “It was an honor for us to repair the memorial,” said Goode. “It was a shame to see it damaged the way it was.” (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt.
