Buchanan retirement
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Chief Master Sgt. Debbie Buchanan, 34th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron superintendent and Senior Master Sgt. Rick Buchanan, 302nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron medical readiness superintendent, who are husband and wife, receive American Flags during their joint retirement ceremony Dec. 6, 2014, here. The Buchanans spent the majority of their 52 years of combined service as aeromedical technicians with assignments in the Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. They were two of the first members of the Peterson-based aeromedical evacuation squadron and were instrumental in building the 34th AES which stood up here in March 2008. Prior to their Air Force Reserve assignments with the 302nd Airlift Wing, both were assigned as aeromedical evacuation technicians in the Oklahoma Air National Guard where they provided medical response to the April 1995 bombing victims of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. The Buchanans were both awarded the Meritorious Service Medal during the ceremony.
