Peterson museum gets preservation award
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – The Peterson Air Park offers a unique experience for service members, their families and the surrounding community by offering free access to the beautifully designed space that features historical buildings and different airframes from throughout Air Force history. As a result, the air park has received the Excellence Award for Historic Civil Restoration from the Historic Preservation Alliance of Colorado Springs. The 21st Space Wing earned the annual award for the historical preservation and improvements to the Peterson Air and Space Museum. From its origin as the first passenger terminal and hangar for the original Colorado Springs airport more than seven decades ago, the Peterson Air and Space Museum has become a repository for the Air Force and the city's heritage.
