Peterson Air Force Base medics respond to aid simulated injured from a tornado scenario during an April 15 emergency management exercise at this southern Colorado base. The operational readiness inspection the exercise took part in showcased the 21st Space wing’s response to a natural disaster exercise featuring mock mass casualties. The exercise occupied a small corner of the base, but tested all emergency responders and command and control aspects associated with installation support and protection. Adding to the realism, a civilian Flight-For-Life helicopter based in Colorado Springs demonstrated the integral relationship the base has with its civilian counterparts. (U.S. Air Force photo)
