Dog days of summer
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The dog days of summer are a phenomenon of the northern hemisphere that usually fall between July and early September. On Aug. 4, they appeared at 302nd Airlift Wing Family Day, where Sparky the fire dog enjoys a visit with Augustus Cameron and his mother, Colleen. Ms. Cameron, a major, is a reservist pilot with the 731st Airlift Squadron. Wing members and their families came out to enjoy food, games, entertainment by the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, a softball tournament and the highly successful pie-in-the-face contest.
