Colorado-based Combat 'Roos head out on first deployment

Deploying 52nd Airlift Squadron Airmen gather for a group photo Aug. 16 before departing Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., via C-130 Hercules. The Active Duty Airmen departed on the transport aircraft for assignments in the Middle East. This is the squadron's first time deploying members in support of U.S. Central Command objectives since its activation in October 2009. The 52nd AS is an active associate unit, and is paired with the Air Force Reserve's 302nd Airlift Wing. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Stephen J. Collier)
