302nd AW honors Southern Colorado fallen servicemembers in Cripple Creek
Chief Master Sgt. Joseph Westerlund, 302nd Airlift Wing command chief, reads the names of Southern Colorado military members killed in action Aug. 22 before the 2010 Pikes Peak Region's Memorial Wall dedication ceremony in Cripple Creek, Colo. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have been killed in action since Sept. 11, 2001 and were stationed at one of the local five area installations, had a home of record in El Paso or Teller County or were U.S. Air Force Academy graduates are listed on the wall. From June 2009 to May 2010, 54 servicemembers gave their lives in combat and were added to the wall. The memorial wall, which now has a total of 331 names listed since Sept. 11, 2001, is located at Cripple Creek's Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. (U.S. Air Force photo/Ann Skarban)
