MAFFS Sawmill Canyon fire
A California Air National Guard C-130, carrying the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System, flies over smoke and fire from the Sawmill Canyon Fire on the Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center's North Training Area, July 16, 2012. The fire began July 14 and consumed 9.600 acres of timber and grass by July 17. MAFFS is a self-contained aerial firefighting system owned by the U.S. Forest Service that can discharge 3,000 gallons of water or fire retardant in less than five seconds, covering an area one-quarter of a mile long by 100 feet wide.
