Maintenance Group ‘double hitter’ assumptions of command affect AMXS, MOF
Air Force Reserve Col. James Van Housen, 302nd Maintenance Group commander, hands the guidon of the 302nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron to its incoming commander, Maj. John Drain, during an assumption of command ceremony March 2 at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Drain said, “today is a proud and joyous day for my family and I. We are very proud to be here in Colorado Springs.” Van Housen presided over two assumptions of command ceremonies for the 302nd MXG, including one for the 302nd Maintenance Operation Flight’s incoming commander, Capt. Michael Allen. Drain, a former enlisted avionics technician, has served in a number of officer billets, including F-22 maintenance at Tyndall AFB, Fla., and the commander of the AF Reserve’s 934th MOF in Minneapolis, Minn. Allen, also a prior enlisted Airman in security forces, takes on the leadership role of the 302nd MOF after serving within the 302nd Airlift Wing since March 2009. The 302nd MXG is the parent organization to both the 302nd AMXS and MOF. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Stephen J. Collier)
