Maintenance Group ‘double hitter’ assumptions of command affect AMXS, MOF
Air Force Capt. Michael Allen, 302nd Maintenance Operations Flight commander, addresses the men and women of the 302nd Maintenance Group March 2 directly after an assumption of command ceremony at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. “I’m going to give the MOF some expectations, what they can expect of me and what I expect of them,” Allen said. “I will always have the best interests of the unit at heart when I make decisions. That’s what you can expect from me. Things you can’t expect of me … I’m not perfect. I will make mistakes, but I promise to learn from those mistakes. If I don’t have the right answers, we’ll find them out together.” The 302nd MXG commander, Col. James Van Housen, presided over two assumptions of command ceremonies for the 302nd MXG, including one for the 302nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron’s incoming commander, Maj. John Drain. Drain, a former enlisted avionics technician, has served in a number of officer billets, including F-22 maintenance at Tyndall AFB, Fla., and the commander of the AF Reserve’s 934th MOF in Minneapolis, Minn. Allen, also a prior enlisted Airman in security forces, takes on the leadership role of the 302nd MOF after serving within the 302nd Airlift Wing since March 2009. The 302nd MXG is the parent organization to both the 302nd AMXS and MOF. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Stephen J. Collier)
