Black Forest Fire
A string of emergency and first responder vehicles line a roadside at a staging area just outside of the Black Forest Fire zone north of Colorado Springs. The staging area provides personnel with a place to rest and recover before being redeployed back into the fire zone. Fire fighters and other emergency service personnel have worked around the clock to extinguish the fire that began June 11. The 21st Space Wing and 721st Mission Support Group is providing two fire trucks and 13 firefighters in response to requests under a mutual aid agreement with El Paso County Sheriff’s Department, as well as providing shelter for DOD personnel displaced by the fire.
