MAFFS support to Rocky Mountain wildfires grows

An air tanker "pit" crew detaches a fire retardant loading hose from a California Air National Guard C-130 June 24 prior to the aircraft's departure from Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Portions of Peterson AFB's flightline were converted into an air tanker base for aerial firefighting operations the same day, providing additional capabilities to both military and civilian air tankers. The aircraft is assigned to the 146th Airlift Wing, based in Channel Islands, Calif. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Stephen J. Collier)
