The gift of life

KIRKUK REGIONAL AIR BASE, Iraq – Chief Master Sgt. Gary Brown, 506th Air Expeditionary Group superintendent, takes part in a blood donation prescreening administered by Senior Airman Tami Warner, 506th Expeditionary Medical Squadron, July 6 here. The prescreening involves initial paperwork before blood is drawn. A tube is then used for blood type confirmation and bio-screening. Afterwards, a prescreening list pool is formed and notification is sent to the donor. The prescreening allows preparation for emergency blood donations. It also cuts down on time to get blood from donors to the operation room. Airman Warner is a medical laboratory journeyman deployed here from Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., and is a native of South Bridge, Mass. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman SerMae Lampkin)
