Southern Colorado community leaders see AF Reserve special missions up close

Master Sgt. William Liermann (left) discusses the challenges of operating tactical communication equipment May 13 with community leaders from the Colorado Springs, Colo., area at the Gulfport Combat Readiness Training Center in Gulfport, Miss. A total of 26 community leaders were escorted to "The Magnolia State" by the Air Force Reserve's 302nd Airlift Wing to learn more about special missions in the Air Force, to include aerial firefighting and weather reconnaissance, or "hurricane hunting." Both the latter missions are performed by the AF Reserve Command. Sergeant Liermann is a RF transmission specialist with the Mississippi Air National Guard's 255th Air Control Squadron.
