AMC general sees Peterson-based active association, aerial firefighting up close

Lt. Col. David Condit (right) explains the benefits and challenges of aerial firefighting to Maj. Gen. Susan Desjardins, Air Mobility Command director of strategic plans, requirements and programs, as they observed a wet fire test of the Modular Airborne Firefighting System II, or "MAFFS II" unit April 22 at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. The "MAFFS II" unit was test fired as part of the 302nd Airlift Wing's annual preparation for wildland fire season. The general visited the 302nd AW and its active duty associate unit, the 52nd Airlift Squadron, to learn more about the wing's successes of integration under the Air Force's Total Force Initiative program. Colonel Condit is the Air Force Reserve's MAFFS program coordinator and the 302nd AW's chief of safety. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Stephen J. Collier)
